Thomas Slippe is a photographer born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. He received his BFA in photography in 2019 from the University of Hartford. His work is centered around portrait photography, self-expression, and the connection between the photographer, the camera, and the muse. Using photography as a form of social work, Thomas enjoys helping others tell a story using imagery. Giving others a platform with photography to express themselves is not only therapeutic but serves as a vital tool in the 21st century.

Investigating past memories to reminisce about his childhood, Thomas enjoys delving into time. This allows the opportunity to express what his timid, reserved, and quiet self has seen, heard, and experienced growing up; The exploration of work like Childhood Memories gives his childhood self a voice to exhibit everything he was not bold enough to express as an adult. Using these nostalgic past memories connects them to current times and creates work such as Curls for the Girls to showcase the value of expression and cultural experiences.
